The Social Network Tree

September 17th, 2008 by Todd Mintz

Adapted from Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree”

Once there was a social network tree…that loved a little boy.

And every day the boy would come….and he would submit and vote and read content…
and leave comments
and blog and twitter about what he read.

He would debate the merits of industry and commerce.

And he would socialize and criticize.

And when offline, he would think about ways to contribute to that community.

David Mihm’s Local Search Presentation at SEMpdx Hot Seat (Liveblogging)

September 10th, 2008 by Todd Mintz

Download David’s PowerPoint here.

Why local search is so important? 40% of queries have local intent. 5% use the city & state name; 2% use informal terms like neighborhoods; .5% use zip codes.

100 Million unique visitors per month search Yahoo with local intent…1/2 billion search Google monthly with local intent.

Local search algorithms drive mobile results (they already do with more sophisticated devices).

The old local search…10 Google links…traditional SEO.

This is probably the worst proofreading error I’ve ever seen (I’m hiding the identity of the sender to protect his job)…

Dollar Tree: Best Response To A Customer Complaint Ever

September 9th, 2008 by Todd Mintz

I would like to acknowledge the corporate management at Dollar Tree for the most amazing response to a customer complaint that I’ve ever seen.

Sunday, my wife shopped at a local Dollar Tree with my 9 year old daughter and 2 year old son. They were the victim of shockingly bad treatment on the part of a store manager…I don’t feel the need to tell what happened, but it was egregious.

The Glen Campbell SEO Songbook

September 2nd, 2008 by Todd Mintz

No GravatarGlen Campbell

I’m a huge Glen Campbell fan. I remember watching the “Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour” as a very young kid and growing up in the 70’s, Glen’s music was very much the soundtrack to my youth. Even now, from time to time, I queue up all of Glen’s old records on my Rhapsody Unlimited player and totally grove to his classic country pop sound.
