I am happy to say that living under the bridge is behind us now.  The Social Media Job Hunt experiment lasted only five days before receiving an exciting employment offer, and numerous freelance offers to carry me through the interim.

I will miss all my bridge-dwelling neighbors, and will think fondly of our times chasing down rodents… er…dinner, with the kids.  Moving was quick.  We simply flipped our cardboard house over, put our few belongings in it, and carried it back to the house.  That’s what I call a mobile home.

With all the good people that have recently lost their jobs, here’s one person who isn’t worthy of the job he has:

I’m probably getting 6-10 new Twitter followers a day and, unless it’s an obvious bot, I always check out the page of each new follower in order to decide whether to reciprocate.

Here’s the criteria I use in making my “follow” determination:

If the account has the default avatar and or haven’t done any @ tweets yet, I won’t follow back unless I know them.

In search marketing circles, the term “Rockstar” is pretty controversial. It is used to show popularity in the community, but it also can be applied derogatively (to show the person has a huge ego or is a “legend in their own mind”).

I didn’t know Joanna Lord nearly as well as most of my previous interview subjects (though I did meet her at Pubcon and she’s an incredibly sweet person).  However, when she shared via Twitter the launch of a job search site TheOnlineBeat that she co-founded, after viewing the site, I realized that she and I had a lot to talk about…and here are the results of that conversation…
