Matt McGee is SEO Manager at Marchex, a search and media company in Seattle, Washington. He’s guided successful SEO projects for clients of all sizes and budgets, with special emphasis on traffic acquisition via organic rankings. Matt is a speaker at the Search Engine Strategies conferences, and writes about online marketing at Small Business SEM. He’s a frequent contributor to several SEO/SEM forums, and is a moderator for the Small Business Ideas Forum.

Local Search / Local Search Marketing. Make your pages more local. Address & local phone number on all pages. Write out a “Locational Directions” page (as specific as possible). Use every geographic location you can (zip codes, area codes, etc.) - include page title, anchor text (inbound and internal). PPC tactics - geotargeted ads, advertise on local search engines. Internet Yellow Pages + Local Review Sites as well. Local search engines provide data to major search engines. 92% of shoppers find online reviews helpful. Local Search 2.0: 1/29/07 - Google Maps became much more prominent. Google Maps jumped 26% in 2007.
